Ketchum Bolsters Greater China Leadership with New CEO Prince Zhang
Ketchum, one of the world’s leading communications consultancies, has strengthened its leadership team in Greater China with the addition of CEO Prince Zhang. In this role, Zhang is responsible for the strategic direction of Ketchum’s Greater China operation as an integrated digital communications firm. As CEO, he leads the Ketchum Greater China senior leadership team and oversees the firm’s offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Based in Shanghai, Zhang reports to Esty Pujadas, partner and president of Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Latin America for Ketchum.
“China is a ‘social first’ market, leading the world with its fast progression from social content to e-commerce and massive advancement in data and technology platforms. Our growth in the market is inextricably tied to our transformation into a fully integrated marketing firm rooted in digital communications and commerce with specialization in growth sectors like automotive, food and beverage, technology, travel and hospitality, consumer packaged goods and retail,” said Pujadas. “With his extensive experience in digital innovation, agency development and entrepreneurship, Prince is exactly the right leader to take the helm in this critical market.”
With an 18-year career in China’s digital marketing field, Zhang most recently served as chief digital officer for IPG Mediabrands. Previous roles include deputy general manager at Hylink, vertical sales director for Google, business development director for CNBC Asia Pacific, and account director at Viacom. He also held positions at Yahoo, Sohu and PepsiCo. Zhang earned his MBA from Tongji University in 2005.
“I am a passionate evangelist for digital marketing and communications, and Ketchum’s recent evolution to a communications consultancy provides a tremendous opportunity for me to help Ketchum Greater China fully realize its potential as a digitally focused, integrated firm,” said Zhang. “I am eager to partner with the Greater China leadership team to take the firm to the next level in the market.”
Zhang joins recent hire Eunice Wong, who assumed the role of chief growth officer for Ketchum Greater China in March. Wong’s responsibilities include leading key client engagements across Greater China, as well as growing Ketchum’s business in China to help meet clients’ continually evolving needs. Wong, who reports to Pujadas, joined Ketchum from McCann & Spencer, where she served as chief strategist and head of business development. Her rich experience includes top marketing roles at Touchmedia, Pizza Hut, PPCW and Citicorp. She has also led marketing & communication strategies for brands like McDonald’s, P&G, L’Oreal and HSBC while working at advertising and public relations agencies across Greater China and APAC.
Zhang and Wong are supported by a strong and experienced Greater China leadership team, which also includes Tiffany Hu, SVP and director, Shanghai, and Simeon Mellalieu, partner and director of client development, Asia Pacific.
Ketchum established its Greater China operations in 1980. Ketchum Greater China has consistently gained industry recognition for innovation and execution excellence, and has been recognized with six major industry awards in the past year, including the Greater China Campaign of the Year award at PR Awards Asia.
